Olena Koliesnik

Olena Koliesnik is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist and curator living in Orihuela, Spain. Her artistic practice is dedicated to exploring the “intangible assets” of human beings: free will, spirit, and choice. Through painting, graphic art, and performance, Koliesnik examines how inner existential states materialize into physical forms. The artist’s works are held in the State Treasury of Ukraine, the collection of the Rubalcava Palace in Spain, and private collections in the United States, Netherlands, Poland, and Canada. Artist Statement “My artistic practice investigates how the invisible becomes a force that shapes human reality. My artistic journey began with an exploration of external spaces — urban landscapes, architecture, and traces of human presence within places. Over time, this observation evolved into a deeper inquiry into the invisible processes that shape how we perceive the world, form our identity, and create a sense of belonging. I approach these invisible dimensions of human existence as intangible assets — inner resources, experiences, and forces that allow us to transform, make choices, and maintain a sense of self when external structures change or disappear. The experience of displacement and the loss of my native home in eastern Ukraine became a turning point in my practice, transforming my understanding of home from a physical territory into an internal condition — a space of memory, belonging, and presence that can exist beyond geography. Through painting, graphic art, installation, and performance, I create visual environments where intangible processes take form, revealing how invisible experiences leave traces in the material world. My works invite viewers to encounter their own invisible foundations — the forces, memories, and experiences that quietly shape their existence.”
